With a new roof, or on their own

The roof edge is where the roof, the eavestrough, the fascia and the soffit meet. Doing them together with a re-roof finishes the edge in one job and one estimate. One customer had us replace "roof, fascia and eavestroughs" on a house that needed all three. They can also be done on their own.

What eavestroughs cost

New eavestroughs from Eagle Roofing usually run from about $2,000 to $10,000 or more for a house. The number depends on the length, the number of downspouts, the height of the house, aluminum or copper, and how much fascia needs replacing underneath. Your estimate lists each of those separately.

Repairs, cleaning and gutter guards

Not every eavestrough needs replacing. We re-hang sagging runs, reseal joints and corners, replace a damaged section, and clean troughs and downspouts, which matters most in the fall once the leaves are down. Gutter guards keep leaves and needles out so the troughs keep draining between cleanings, and we fit them to new or existing eavestroughs.

Toronto's downspout rule

In the City of Toronto, downspouts may not drain into the sewer. They have to discharge onto the ground, away from your foundation, and not onto a neighbour's property or the sidewalk. The City offers up to $500 toward the work for low-income seniors and low-income people with disabilities. When we replace your eavestroughs, the downspouts go where the bylaw says.

Ice dams and the roof edge

Ice dams build at the eave and can pull eavestroughs loose over a winter. Part of the fix is in the attic: soffit vents feed cold air in, and soffits that are blocked, painted over or missing make ice dams worse. New soffit with proper venting is part of the same job.

Rotten fascia

Water that gets behind a leaking or overflowing eavestrough rots the fascia board the trough hangs on. Once it is soft, new troughs will not hold. We replace the fascia first and hang the new eavestroughs on solid wood.

Is this the right call for your roof?

Call us for this when

  • Eavestroughs overflow or sag
  • Fascia is rotten or soffit is damaged
  • You are replacing the roof and want the edge done too

Pick something else when

  • Water is coming through the roof itself, not the edge: roof repair

Afterwards: keeping it in shape

  1. Clean the eavestroughs in the fall

    Once the leaves are down.

  2. Check the downspouts

Water should run away from the house, not along the wall.

  3. Watch for drips behind the trough

They point to a gap at the roof edge.

Outstanding Roof Re-Shingling Experience! I recently had my home's roof completely re-shingled, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the team was professional, punctual, and incredibly hardworking. They communicated clearly throughout the entire process, kept the property clean and organized, and completed the job efficiently without cutting any corners. The craftsmanship is honestly top-notch — the new shingles look fantastic and give my home a completely refreshed appearance. You can tell this crew takes real pride in their work, paying attention to every detail from the ridge lines down to the gutter edges. I've already had several neighbors stop by to ask who did the work, and I proudly tell them about the excellent experience I had. It feels great to point to my roof and know it was done right by a team that genuinely cares about quality. I'm not just satisfied — I'm proud to show off the work whenever I get the chance to talk about it. If you're considering a re-shingling project, I highly recommend this team. Reliable, skilled, and truly dedicated to doing the job the right way. Five stars all around!

Eagle Roofing has been looking after our roofs for over 20 years. They put their signature after their products, service and workmanship. They stand behind their guarantee. It’s easy for them, they don’t have to come back because they do the job right the first time. They did the roofs on all three of our homes over the years. I would recommend them 100%.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had my roof done by Eagle Roofing, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. They helped make sure the roof was completed on time, which was extremely important because I was trying to prevent further water damage to my home. The team was very professional, reliable, and reasonably priced. What really stood out to me was their attention to detail. During the quotation process, they actually went up on the roof to inspect everything carefully and make sure nothing was missed. They also found water damage to the plywood and, rather than simply covering it up, they brought it to my attention and replaced the damaged sections properly. That gave me a lot of confidence that the job was being done the right way. I highly recommend Eagle Roofing to anyone looking for professional, honest, and quality roofing work. Great service from start to finish!

Mark Wilk

Eagle Roofing installed a new roof for me twice. The second time was due to me completing a full gut and an addition. Elias and his team were fast, efficient, on time, and on budget for both jobs. His team were impeccable with the work and clean up! I have recommended Eagle Roofing to all of my friends seeking repairs or a full replacement. I unreservedly recommend Eagle Roofing.

I can’t say enough good things about eagle roofing. I was dealing with a roof problem that was very stressful, and they responded so quickly and immediately made me feel like I was in good hands. They were professional, kind, reliable, and worked hard to resolve the issue as fast as possible. What stood out most to me was how much they genuinely cared and how easy they were to communicate with throughout the entire process. I’m extremely grateful for the help they gave me and for making a difficult situation so much easier. Their service was truly exceptional from beginning to end. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy, responsive, and professional roofing company.

FAQ

Eavestrough, Soffit & Fascia Questions

How much does eavestrough replacement cost in Toronto?

Our new eavestroughs usually run from about $2,000 to $10,000 or more for a house, depending on length, downspouts, height, aluminum or copper, and the fascia underneath. Your itemized estimate gives the number for your house.

Do you install gutter guards?

Yes, on new or existing eavestroughs. They keep leaves out so the troughs keep draining between cleanings.

Do you clean and repair eavestroughs?

Yes. Cleaning, resealing, re-hanging sagging runs and replacing damaged sections are all jobs we do without replacing the whole run.

Seamless or sectional?

Seamless eavestroughs are run on site in one length per side, so there are no joints to leak along the run. Sectional troughs join every few feet.

Do my downspouts have to be disconnected from the sewer?

In the City of Toronto, yes. Downspouts cannot connect to the sewer and must discharge onto the ground away from the foundation.

Why do my eavestroughs overflow?

Clogs, too few downspouts, or troughs that are undersized or not sloped right. The inspection tells you which.

Can you replace fascia without a new roof?

Yes. Fascia, soffit and eavestroughs can all be done on their own.

How often should I clean my eavestroughs?

At least once in the fall after the leaves drop. Twice a year if you are under trees.

Can you replace eavestroughs without a new roof?

Yes. On their own or with a roof replacement, whichever the house needs.

Do soffits affect ice dams?

Yes. Soffit vents feed cold air into the attic. Blocked or painted-over soffits trap heat and make ice dams worse.
