Water then travels along the decking, so the stain on your ceiling is often far from the hole. We trace it from the roof down and take photos and video, so you see the cause before we fix it. If water shows up on a ceiling or wall after a thaw, it is often an ice dam, not a hole. Snow melts over a warm attic, refreezes at the cold eave, and meltwater backs up under the shingles. Do not chip at the ice with a shovel or an axe: that damages shingles and eavestroughs. Call us instead: we remove the ice dam without damaging the roof, get the water stopped, then fix the cause, which is usually attic air leaks, thin insulation and ventilation, plus the eave membrane. Attic ventilation and insulation are work we do on their own, because a cold, well-vented, properly insulated attic is what stops the ice from forming.

Skylights are one of the most common leak points on a GTA roof, and usually the flashing around them is the cause, not the glass. We repair and reflash skylights, replace failed units, and install new skylights, with the roof or on their own. On a flat roof, the curb and the membrane around it get the same attention.
Not every call is a leak. If you are buying or selling a house, or just want to know how many winters the roof has left, we inspect it, photograph it and tell you plainly what it needs and what it does not.
If water is coming in, we make the roof safe and dry first, where it is safe to go up. If it is storm damage, keep every receipt: insurers expect you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage, and the Insurance Bureau of Canada says reasonable costs like tarps are generally reimbursed.
